Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24th February 2022, people’s perceptions have changed. When Ukrainians hear loud noises, they hear explosions, music melodies have become sirens, we see bodies in garbage bags.

This video work merges two realities that distort the perception of the viewer: the scene was shot on a peaceful beach in Venice (Italy), following the tragic Bucha massacre in Ukraine. The video shows a man lying on the beach, a child running away from him, and warships on the horizon.

This video poses some questions: is the man on the beach sunbathing or is he wounded? Where is the child running to? Where are the warships heading towards?
